Keyboard and touch controls

The current official game lists arrow keys or WASD/ZQSD for movement, Enter to confirm, Esc to cancel and Space to capture. Mouse and touch controls are available as well.

On a touchscreen, select a unit, then a reachable tile or enemy. Use the action buttons for the next step. The map supports panning and a minimap.

What buildings do

Infantry can capture buildings. Cities and oil fields supply income, hospitals restore health, and production buildings let you add units. That makes capturing useful for both economy and reinforcement access. Check the selected unit’s available actions rather than assuming every unit can capture.

Choose the right match

The creator’s page lists four AI difficulty settings, local multiplayer on one device and online one-on-one invitations. The official project is evolving, so this guide avoids older map totals that differ from the current build.

Which Play page is current?

JohnDoesIT’s itch.io release is a launcher. Its Play link opens the current official game at pixelswar.io. This is the turn-based strategy game; similarly named pixel-canvas games are separate projects.
