What is Planet Extraction?

Planet Extraction is a released strategy and incremental game by Aviv Levy and fkeyz. Its premise is extracting a planet’s resources, building automation with robots and expanding a corporate empire.

The game was made within three days for Ludum Dare 58, using the theme Collector. Its stated final goal is to build the corporate headquarters.

Collecting resources

Press and hold on resource tiles to spawn resources. Once resources appear, hover over them to collect them.

The official page lists mouse as the game’s input method and tags Planet Extraction as mouse-only. It also identifies the average session as a few minutes and recommends playing on desktop.

Buildings and automation

Open Construction to buy new buildings and units. Placing buildings unlocks other buildings, so construction choices advance the available options.

Automation uses robots. The official description frames these systems around exploiting planetary resources and building the player’s corporate empire, culminating in construction of the corporate headquarters.

Additional controls

The official instructions list the arrow key as the control for zooming out. Pressing C disables the CRT effect, while F11 activates full screen.

The game is available in HTML5 and Windows versions. Its official tags include city builder, clicker, hex-based, idle, incremental, pixel art, resource management and science fiction.

How to play

Open the GameTio game page, select Play, then choose Run game on the developer’s itch.io page. The browser version uses HTML5.

Press and hold on resource tiles to produce resources, then hover over them to collect them. Select Construction to purchase buildings and units. Place buildings to unlock additional buildings, develop automation with robots and work toward the stated goal of constructing the corporate headquarters.
